It's That Time of the Year Again!

Although we are in the midst of wintry weather and basketball tournaments, now is the time to start planning for your spring yard clean up.  Troop 4673 is excited to again work with Silverbrook Nursery & Landscaping to bring you premium hardwood mulch and topsoil for your lawn and gardening needs.  There are many benefits to ordering mulch from us, including:

  • Competitive Pricing.  We offer a 3.0 cubic-foot bag of brown hardwood mulch for $4.75.  Compare that to the same size bag offered for $5.95 at a home improvement store.
  • Home Delivery.  If you qualify, we will deliver the mulch to a location of your choosing (see the "Order Now!" tab for details).
  • Tax Deductible.  You will receive a receipt with your delivery allowing you to deduct $1.50 for each bag from your taxes.
  • Help grow our young men of character.  The proceeds from this fundraiser contribute to the furthing the Scouts BSA program of community service, citizenship, building character, and outdoor adventure activities.  These funds also help to defray the cost of camping for individual Scouts.

Mulch improves the quality of your landscape.  Mulch is a necessity in most yards to maintain health of the soil therein.  Bark mulch can help prevent erosion, insulate plants, reduce soil compaction from heavy rain, keep moisture in the soil, and prevent weeds, not mention it keeps your yard looking beautiful.  But how much do you need to buy?  Use this simple reference page below to help you calculate the number of bags to purchase.

Important Information

This is Troop 4673's main fundraising activity.  Your support will help our young and growing troop buy equipment, advancement and recognition badges, and instructional materials.  Remember too that $1.50 of every bag purchased is tax deductible!

Purchasing Options

There are two methods for buying products from us:

  1. Check (send order via Postal Service)
  2. Credit, Debit, or PayPal (order online)

For more informaiton on each method, chose the option in Step 1 of the "Order Mulch/Topsoil" section.

Mulch Pick & Delivery

We now offer free delivery to all customers who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Your address is within five miles of the South Run Pool
  • You ordered 10 or more bags of either mulch or topsoil (donated bags not applicable)

What does this mean?  If you live within a five-mile radius of the South Run Pool, then you will receive free delivery automatically, regardless of the number of bags ordered.  On the other hand, if you live beyond this point, but have ordered 10 bags or more, you will receive free delivery as well.  It does not matter how much mulch or topsoil you buy, only that the total number of bags purchased exceeds the ten-bag threshold.

You can check if your home is within five miles of the South Run Pool when you order online.  See the order form for further instructions.

If you do not meet either criteria for free delivery, you may pick up your order at South Run Pool (9908 S Park Cir, Fairfax Station, VA) in back of the parking lot on the right-hand side:

Because our troop orders in bulk sizes, we have a limited supply of mulch and topsoil in excess.  If you are still looking to order some mulch, please fill out the form below and click the "Request Order" button.  We will review your request and respond via email as soon as possible.

    Download the Troop 4673 Mulch Order Form and mail the form with your check.  All instruction can be found on the form.

    Important Reminder!
    All orders must be received by March 24th, so please mail the order form (with check) a few days before this date to allow enough time for it to be delivered.  It is recommended to mail in your order no later than March 21st.   If you are mailing an order after this date, please contact the Mulch Meister immediatlely.

    Pay by Credit, Debit, or PayPal

    Fill out all required fields (denoted by red asterisks) in form below.  Here are some things to note:

    • We use PayPal to handle all electronic payments securely.  If you do not have a PayPal account, no problem.  You can create one if you like or choose the option to "Pay with Debit or Credit Card" instead.
    • Enter your address to check if you are within five miles of the South Run Pool.
    • Please provide the phone number we can use to contact you on the day of delivery.
    • We ask "how did you find out about us," for statistical purposes.
